Integrity Asia in 2017 NAPBS Annual Conference

Integrity Asia attended the 2017 National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) Annual Conference that was held on 17-19 September in Orlando, Florida. This year’s theme was “Creating Magical Connections” and featured a keynote session “Lessons in Leadership, Management, and Customer Service. YOU can create Disney Magic Too!”

The conference offered 29 educational sessions presented on a diverse range of educational topics ranging from strategic business sessions, futuristic technology, legal issues, nuts and bolts “how-to” programs, international screening techniques, compliance guidelines, employment discrimination and what’s on the horizon for consumer reporting agencies, etc.

All sessions were both educational and practical. The keynote speaker, Lee Cockerell, was formerly Executive Vice President of Operations for the Walt Disney World Resort and more than 20 years of experience in executive management with the Marriott Corporation and Hilton Hotels. He enlightened the audience on themes such as team management, clarity of expectations and customer service. He explained among others why Customer Service is not a department and why your team is your brand.

A hot topic during the conference was on the new European Union extra-territorial General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) set to launch in May 2018. Background Screening companies and their clients need to be prepared by understanding the regulation, implementing it and flowing down contractual requirements.

On a more technological note, the session about Document Verification and Facial Recognition: Authentication for the #selfie generation was insightful as we are facing the same problematic with the requirements needed in relation to the speed at which fintech and regtech are developing in our region.

Integrity Asia is committed to maintain the standards of excellence in its background screening service by staying at the forefront of technological, legal and operational requirements.
